Course Description
The course follows part of the original course during the triathlon event at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. The swim will take place in the sheltered bay of Vouliagmeni. The bike and run legs will be on the coastal road from Vouliagmeni to Varkiza with amazing views of the crystal clear Mediterranean sea.
SWIM: The swim course will be a 750 m triangular course (one loop for the Sprint and 2 loops for the Classic). The Super-sprint will use a shorter triangle. Upon water exit, the athletes will follow short path (about 100 m) to the Transition Area which will be set up in the parking lot of the beach.
BIKE: The bike course will start in the direction due south towards Varkiza on a flat section initially and after about 1.5 Km will have some uphill and windy sections. The road surface which is in very good condition and for the most part has 2 lanes in each direction will be completely closed to vehicular traffic by order of police. The Police will be on the spot to ensure the closure of the road. After 5 Km the athletes will arrive in Varkiza where there will be a U-turn. The Sprint and Classic athletes will retun to the Transition Area and will thus have covered 10 Km. The Sprint will do one more lap for a total of 20 Km, whereas the Classic will do a total of four (4) laps for 40 Km. For the Super-sprint there will be a U-turn at the 2.5 Km mark.
RUN: The run leg will be on the same route as the bike, but will be clearly marked by cones on the right side of the street.
FINISH LINE: The finish line will be next to the transition area.
